I started playing drums at age three, on a drum set with the "Muppet Babies" painted on the shells. I guess that was the hot show for three-year-olds in the 80's. I soon quit, but later I began playing music because my mom forced me!
Being a single minded kid who took Tae Kwon Do, I was hardly a music fan growing up. When I was one belt away from achieving black belt (red-black belt), it dawned on me that I was going to have to start working extremely hard at perfecting the art of butt-kicking. Fine by me, but even at that age I was aware of the law of attraction; what was I bringing into my life.
Around that time, my mom reintroduced me to music. She literally dragged me to a local music store and forced me to choose an instrument to play. I chose clarinet because it was small; as little to carry as possible, right?
I quit Tae Kwon Do, and I was soon practicing for hours every day, and air-drumming when I wasn't working on clarinet concertos. Since those days I've been blessed with gigs from California to Colorado. The Toyes allows me to put as much focus and intensity into my drumming as I put into Tae Kwon Do, and it decidedly releases my joy unto the world.
