I was born Jean-Christophe Kay in New York, New York on March 15, 1955, the first American-born child of my French mom and Russian/Egyptian dad. I knew I was going to be a musician from the time I saw The Beatles on TV at age 8. I turned pro and left home for good at age 16.
In 1983, after many years as a touring and session guitarist, I was starting to feel burned out and moved to Hawaii, where my brother Sky and I formed The Toyes and wrote and recorded "Smoke Two Joints" in a Kona Gold-induced stupor.
Since then, I’ve written and produced countless pieces of music. I have a son, Zach, and love softball, scrabble and sushi. I can play the guitar just like ringing a bell. A rusty, cracked, misshapen, cacophonous bell.
But fuck bios! I’d much rather you read, and believe, the following:
I killed a bear at age 3. My parents immediately moved me to a penthouse suite at the Tropicana in Las Vegas, where I became a high chair roller.
At 5 I got my pilot’s license and flew the first manned, er, boyed mission to Mars. Upon my return I got some glitter and ganja and was highly decorated.
At 10 I went on sabbatical to a monastic retreat in the Himalayas, where I attained the title of Most Serene Motherfucker, the seventh level of enlightenment of my buddy Satva.
I later made a killing in the stock market and, after serving my sentence, entered the priesthood. I then said, “Oh, sorry, I thought this was my apartment,” and left the priesthood.
Over the last several years I’ve written several bestsellers under the name of J. K. Rowling, and am involved in a steamy D & S relationship with Oprah Winfrey. (Don’t ask, it’s complicated.) I love children and the environment, but not together.
I either play through a Mesa-Boogie Mark IV with a 2X12 slanted cab loaded with Celestion speakers, or through my new rig; A Macbook Pro running Amplitube software controlled by a Stomp I/O pedalboard/interface running into 2 Mackie SRM450 v.2 powered monitors.

What 5 albums would I take if stranded on a desert island? Wake up, people! It’s called an iPod. Look into it.
